BACK TO THE
This season we’re seeing a return to a very muted colour palette, and lilac is one of my hottest hues for summer. I created this image for Italian brand Oway with Westrow Technical Director, Jenny Pelter, proving that colour can make a serious style statement without being overpowering. If you’re looking to upgrade your colour for spring, we have 12 L’Oréal Colour Experts across our ten-salon group, with each one on hand to offer you a new hue to suit you – leaving all others in the shade. Visit westrowhair.com to find your nearest salon location.

If you want to set things straight this season, the semi-permanent straightening and repairing treatment from Kerastraight is for you. Boasting a protein-based formalde-hydefree formula, the treatment transforms frizzy, unmanageable manes into smooth, sleek strands that last up to four months. If that’s not enough to tempt you, it will also reduce your styling time and keep locks resistant to humidity, rain and sweat. To book a complimentary consultation, contact your nearest Westrow salon. Price on consultation.
Following on from Westrow Director, Marc Westerman’s success in completing the Great North Run in 2014 and 2015, junior and senior staff members from each of Westrow’s salons joined him in 2016 to help raise money for funds in loving memory of Westrow’s staff who have sadly passed away, including Marc’s beloved brother Jamie. With raising funds high on the Westrow agenda for 2018, Marc is set to undertake the London Marathon this year, all for charity.
We would love to welcome you all to our latest salon venture in Bingley. Housed on 120 Main Street, our tenth salon,
headed up by Franchisee Hayley Rae is a real mixture of raw urban detail and luxe soft furnishings. The aim was to create an interior that gives the impression of a New York loft apartment with a very contemporary feel, plenty of space,
industrial features and urban design details. Head on over and see for yourself – after all, it’s what’s inside that counts!
SPRING IN YOUR STEP
If we had to describe the hair vibe at Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018, it would be ‘effortless beauty,’ with designers making a very obvious shift towards breezy styles and unfussy styling. Westrow went backstage to find out the secret to nailing the new season’s penchant for ponies.
“The Queen of England dancing in a 1940’s Harlem Jazz club” was the brief backstage at Erdem SS18. The result? A prim Forties’ style twisted faux fringe and pony, with a partied-out twist.
GET THE LOOK: Separate a triangular fringe section at the front, backcomb for body and then roll under, tucking into place with Kirby grips. Pull the remaining hair into a low pony and tong the lengths into ribbonesque twists. Don’t brush the curls – it’s the roll effect that creates that authentic forties’ feel.
INSIDER TIP: For a truly vintage effect, finish the look with a black bow, but to give the hair a ‘partied in’ feel, scrunch the bow so it doesn’t look too neat, and add a final mist of water mixed with hairspray, to give a dewy, out-all-night texture.
